What We Do
Social Networks are a fine line that you must walk carefully. You must think of social networks as a big party and you are just there to mingle and have a good time. It is best for “networking”, hence the name social network.
The last thing you want to do online in a social network is to blatantly promote your business. For example, you go to a party and there is a guy walking around trying to meet people to sell them their products or services, trying to get you to join his/her business. A lot of people will quickly try to change the subject or get uncomfortable talking any further with this person because they feel as if they are being pressured into buying or joining something.
The same rules apply for the Internet, but magnified. If you don’t like what someone is saying or trying to sell you, all you have to do is un-friend that person or blacklist them. Although, the web seems vast, word can spread fast that you are nothing more than a blatant salesperson.
The best ways to promote your business is to not try at all. You want to become one with the group and develop a level of trust and become a resource for questions in your field. Once you get to this point where people look to you for information and value what you say, you are halfway there. You should put links to your blog or website so that while people find value in what you are talking about, they will be able to find more value in your main website.
There are a myriad of options when it comes to picking social networks. However, only a few matter in the grand scheme of things. The question lies in how much effort do you want to put into this? The best would be Facebook and Twitter. The demographics for Facebook users have taken a huge switch from what it used to be early in the decade. Facebook used to be a place for college students only. But now their biggest growing demographic consists of women age 55 and older. There is a group for about any subject inside Facebook. It would be best to join the group around the subjects that pertain to your business and start to develop relationships with other members.
It is very important to setup all of your information correctly the fist time, since you only have one business name and you are only one person. You don’t want to ruin your reputation online and have to re-invent yourself again. Our team of Social Media experts can help setup your profile, guide you in the right direction and get your “digital” feet wet online. From there it is really up to you to really keep up with what is going on in your industry. We don’t know your business as well as you do and wouldn’t be able to keep up a facade that we are someone that we are not. However, we will be able to give you the right tools to develop relationships online with people in your industry. It will be up to you to execute those tools and use them in the correct manner.
