There are a lot of reasons why you need graphic design.

One of the first and most important is developing your branding for your company. Having a good graphic design for branding is going to be so important that if you don't take the time to really develop what it is that you want, then later you might not be happy with the finished product.

The best way to determine if a graphic is going to be something that you will be happy with is to consider if you would wear a T-shirt with the graphic on it. Because if the graphic is going to be your brand you are going to be seeing it a lot. It will be on your:

Business flyers
Trade-show designs
Print ads
T-shirt designs
Website
Etc.

The design has to be able to portray the message that you are trying to get through to your audience. You would not want to develop a brand and then in time scrap it. All the time that you have spent building that brand will be wasted. Having said that, it is possible to re-brand a company, however that will take a long time and many times when this is attempted efforts fail.

Some important things to consider when your graphic is being design are the following:

Is the graphic coherent with message of your company?
Does the graphic define the text below or the text in the graphic?
Are the colors being used, the colors that attract the right type of attention to your brand?
